The Swedish company Marrakech Design, specialists in encaustic cement tiles, have just introduced a new collection resulting from their collaboration with the architectural firm Claesson Koivisto Rune. The tiles are handmade in Marrakech, Morocco following age old traditional manufacturing methods.
The three outstanding patterns were inspired by classical Arabic geometry; however they have a very modern feel. The patterns are Stone, Casa and Dandelion each of which is available in several colors.
A unique aspect of the patterns is that when laid in various ways each tile creates an opportunity to produce several new macro-patterns, including a random factor for non-repetitive formations. There is a wonderful video to check out on the company’s traditional tile site: Marrakech Design
